This septic tank systems has four main components:

septic tank

  • Pipe from the home
  • Septic tank
  • Trench or disposal area
  • Grass/turf. Microbes in the soil digest most of the contaminants from wastewater.

The All purpose septic tank is a buried in ground and is manufactured either from concrete or polyethylene locally in Yatala QLD.

Septic tanks are different from our Krystel Kleer Wastewater Treatment Systems as the wastewater is held in the compartments long enough to allow solids to settle out. This forms sludge with the oils and grease floating to the surface – this is called scum.

The All Purpose Septic tanks we are 3900 litres with a capacity to hold 3500 litres of wastewater. They are manufactured in house with a baffle wall, which splits our septic tank into two compartments; this reduces the need for a separate grease trap tank as both the grease trap and settling tank are all in one tank.

The baffle is used to slow down the flow of the liquid from your house it then allows it to cool down which allows the grease / oil to separate from the liquid. The liquid is then dispersed in to trenchs for final absorption in to a grassed irrigation area.

Every 3 years is the recommended time between septic tank pump outs for a family of up to 5 people. This will vary depending on how much wastewater enters the system (the more people using the system, the more often pump out is required). If you have a grease trap, it is recommended that should monitor how full it is every 3 months, and have it pumped out at least every 6 months.
